Ready to let go of whatever is holding you back and create space for the new? Join our Releasing Ritual and Burn Bowl Workshop.
No judgement, just collective support as we symbolically leave behind yesterday’s struggles and make way for good.
Release Ceremony Workshop co-hosted with Krissy Adams of Love.Live.Glow; BYOB for 21+.
$75
Begin the night with a special releasing ceremony hosted by guest facilitator, Krissy Adams of Love.Live.Glow, exploring through guided meditation and journaling the gracious and generous act of releasing through writing what is no longer serving you.
Next, you will create a beautiful, handmade bowl using the pottery wheel or hand-building method. Complete the releasing ritual by adding writings that symbolize what you want to let go. Set it free to burn in the kiln during the firing process.
Once bisque fired, your can return to the studio to apply a ceramic glaze to add color and shine. Glazed pottery will require a second firing. Your burn bowl will be fired once more, completing your project. Your finished burn bowl can be used in future release rituals, to hold your sacred objects or written intentions.
Workshops are 1.5 hours and include releasing ritual, instruction, clay, bisque firing, glaze and glaze firing.
Cost is $75 and includes releasing ritual, tools, supplies, instruction, bisque firing, glaze and glaze firing.
What to Expect
In these sessions, you and your guests get to roll up you sleeves and get hands messy with clay while your artist-instructor guides you through the steps of making handmade pottery. You’ll create your pottery at a workbench or on the pottery wheel, depending on which experience you book. Classes are about two hours and are BYOB for 21 and up.
Smashed Clay projects and experiences are designed using our proprietary method, techniques and tools to help jumpstart your project. However, it takes years to learn the art of handmade pottery. While we hope your finished project turns out exactly as you envisioned, there is no guarantee that your handmade pottery will make it through the entire process and/or result in what you set out to make.
Thick pottery may take longer to dry. Pottery that is too thick, too thin or constructed in a manner that creates stress during the drying or firing process may crack, break or explode. Pottery can take 2-3+ weeks to dry, prepare and bisque fire. Glaze requires an additional firing that can take 1-2+ weeks. You can monitor the status of your pottery at smashedclay.com/status.
